Wow.

To be completely honest, I’m still in shock and it’s been over four hours since I was paid a surprise visit by the boys in AFI.

So let’s get the important words out of the way.

Thank you, AFI and company, for organizing a contest that has, literally and figuratively, pulled the AFI community together instead of dividing it. I have talked to people I otherwise may have never had a conversation with. I have learned so much about people who share one definitive interest with me, which is my love for your band.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my life with you and thousands of other people. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to contribute to your upcoming record. I can’t imagine a higher honor to be given. SERIOUSLY. I can’t wrap my mind around it at all.

Thanks to my friends and coworkers who kept this quiet. I don’t know how you guys did it. But being genuinely surprised made the experience so much more valuable. Next time, though, organize so I don’t WASTE PAPER. Trees currently hate you.
