My day with AFI!

It’s been almost two weeks since I stepped into the studio with the other Begin Transmission winners. Blame tour being scheduled the day after recording and diseases in my body for my lateness.

As with any of my experiences with this band, I was overwhelmed and blown away by the personal and sincere nature of their interaction with everyone. The two songs we heard….well, I’ve been dropping hints on the AFI board, but I am very excited for the full record.

It’s weird. I have so much to say about this band and this experience, including all the wonderful people I met, but it’s hard to find the right words. It’s an honor, really, to have your video chosen like this, and then to get to sing for an actual recording for your favorite band’s new record. Seriously?

Thank you so much, AFI. (And company! Matt, Smith, Kristen, Lee, etc.) You guys helped to create one of the greatest moments of my life.

After recording, we got to hang around with the guys for quite some time. I took a ton of pictures! Keep an eye out for the other BT winners’ blogs, as I’ve sent them some spiffy shots. :)

I think this is my favorite shot of the day. That’s Desiree directly in front of me and Raine straight ahead. The studio AFI are at is like a jungle retreat. Every thing, including the inside, feels so natural and organic. I loved it.

Astro Burger!

If you’re ever in LA and craving a fast vegetarian/vegan meal, make sure to go to the Astro Burger on Melrose and Gower, NOT the one on Santa Monica Blvd. Even though they’re the same restaurant, the Santa Monica one has only one veggie burger, while the Melrose location has an entire menu of veggie options, including VEGENAISE, the GIFT OF THE GODS. I have no idea why this is the case.

After getting picked up at the hotel, we stocked up on lunch at the wonderful Astro Burger. Best vegan-friendly fast food in the city!

One of the bizarre things about the hotel was the overarching theme of sex in nearly every room. (Lobby included, as this photo was in the lobby.)

Every room had a black and white shot of a woman’s body. I had a girl taking off her panties. Most other people had legs and cleavage. So weird.
